I’ve been collecting Pokémon TCGs since I was six years old, thanks to a love of insects and the usual peer pressure. But for the past 18 years, my love of card games had been limited to a hobby – until I came across TCG Card Shop Simulator.
My first day at my new TCG shop, ARBOC Boys in Town, was like any other. When a smelly customer walked into my shop, a cloud of green mist floated from behind him and hung there, scaring off all other potential customers. At first I thought the hardest thing about running a shop was achieving competitive prices, but I was wrong. Instead of competing with the market, I began a constant battle with the perfume shop. To be fair, the game’s Steam page mentions these problematic purchases, and there’s a warning about what will happen if you don’t try to fix the problem. If even just one person with the smell enters the shop, they will not only deter other customers from purchasing the item, but they also seem to attract people with the same smell. For the first few levels, I just stared in horror at my shop as it stank of red rot. But after buying enough items and earning some XP, I reached level 11 and unlocked air conditioning, and let me tell you, it was revolutionary.
